The background of the book is con- struction business with emphasis on the NCR. The people, who have made the dreams come true and have changed the landscape enormously and that too in a short time frame into a cosmopoli- tan wonderland, have to be admired while bringing out the raw nakedness of their characters. The name 'Chameleons' conjures up a gut feeling of withdrawal. Humans are marvelous; they devise, mechanize, vi- sualize, corroborate, and create hues of which variations are fathomless and infinite. There is a blurred line along center, good or bad. They are very much living characters, who have transformed the construction business into 'khana-pani' heavenly abodes, scintillating business environ- ment, providing vigorous opportunity to nourish and progress, and also to an extent into spineless and virtueless human machines. While there is ample humour and candor, it is the imagina- tive and ficticious characters who live to make the NCR what it is today. Their basic vitality as a group is afresh, honed, and developed, making them agents of progress.
